In 2001 Milton Glaser did a talk titled Ten Things I Have Learned, below is an extract from number 6 - Style is not to be Trusted, which I've cleaved out because I'm wondering when the next shift is going to be.

"...fatigue occurs when people see too much of the same thing too often. So every ten years or so there is a stylistic shift and things are made to look different."
