People are jumping on the Blogging train but when it comes to Twitter many people are standing blankly on the platform wondering if they should get on.
Other than the perpetually bored and those stalking celebrities, there is general confusion about why anyone would wish to read other peoples streams of inane consciousness on a daily basis! At Crumpled Dog we are beginning to warm towards Twitter as a business tool. Let me explain…
Twitter may be a widely used mirco-blogger however the general collective are failing to utilise the facility - it has the potential to be a valuable resource for a business it just needs time, perseverance and design. For those paying attention it has the capabilities to be much more than just a social networking platform.
-
It is a great forum for building relationships. Having access to a large online community allows for the sharing of knowledge, ideas, breaking information and key industry trends.
-
Within the busy hive of Twitter there is a developing search resource where tweeters can ask questions directly to those in the know.
-
From retail point of view Twitter can offer valuable insight into what consumers are thinking regarding
product issues. Any problems can be answered quickly and directly to the customer strengthening customer service and reputation.
-
There is the possibility to use is as a spam free (so inviting) subscription tool.
-
Twitter can be used to ferret out and create media opportunities, maintain and follow marketing campaigns(particularly viral), as well as monitor & organise events.
